Some abortion supporters have really shown their true colors the past few weeks with resorting to violence and vandalism. Their attempts to thwart the life-affirming mission of pregnancy help centers and medical clinics that consistently and selflessly serve and offer free assistance to women in unexpected pregnancies shows just how far they will go to promote so-called “choice.”
My heart broke when I learned that a local pregnancy center near my hometown that has been serving women for 37 years was recently vandalized by pro-abortion activists. But their violence demonstrates just how little they care about choice—they don’t want women to have the choice to choose life. Pro-abortion protestors in a nearby city even ripped up some of the signs that pro-life counter protestors brought to an abortion rally.
After hearing the news of pregnancy centers around the country coming under violent attack by abortion supporters, seeing the same thing happen to a pregnancy center near me really hit a nerve. It felt personal this time.
And those in the federal government responsible for accountability in this arena seemingly couldn’t care less about the incidents of violence and threats against life-affirming pregnancy centers, the numbers of which have skyrocketed since the egregious leak of the Supreme Court Dobbs case draft majority opinion, the signaling a possible overturn of Roe v. Wade. Refusing to denounce this kind of violence is simply another example of violent abortion ideology and thinking, only thinly veiled. It saddens me to see how much they don’t seem to realize that. Rather, they affirm and encourage the violence with their passivity.
Abortion is violence in the womb because it ends the life of an innocent, helpless, human child. Now abortion supporters are unashamedly and illegally taking their violence outside the womb by viciously attacking and vandalizing the peaceful, hope-filled centers of grace that provide free pregnancy help and resources to any woman who is in need.

Recently, during an exchange with a woman who had called the Abortion Pill Rescue hotline seeking to reverse her chemical abortion, the woman told me how much of a disconnect she felt within herself after taking the abortion pill. She expressed how much she hoped it wasn’t too late to save her baby.
The word that she used, “disconnect,” is very real and accurate—there truly is a disconnect between the truth behind what abortion does to a woman and her child and what abortion supporters try to claim and push about it.
Another abortion pill reversal client I spoke with recently told me how much of a “massive mistake” it was to have taken the first abortion pill. I could hear in her voice how much she wanted to save her baby.
This is what abortion activists either don’t understand, try to minimize, or refuse to believe—that many women deeply regret their abortions and feel far from “empowered” by their decision to abort. Rather, these devastated women are sick to their stomach about the choice they made, a “choice” that abortion proponents constantly say is “empowerment.”
Tweet This: What abortion activists either don’t understand, try to minimize, or refuse to believe is that many women deeply regret their abortions.
Abortion activists show just how out of touch with reality they are when they refuse to acknowledge the truth that some of the very women they claim to “help” are truly not helped at all with abortion.
We in the pregnancy help movement know the truth. And we must keep fighting the lies with the truth that abortion hurts women and fills them with regret and pain that can last a lifetime.
A friend of mine recently made a remark that those who continue to support the ending of unborn lives are “heaping judgement” on themselves. It’s true. But the truth behind this statement also reminded me that the people who support and lobby for abortion need our prayers.
As difficult as it is to pray for our enemies, we need to. We are called to. Just as we have been shown grace and mercy by God, we need to do the same.
We need to pray for those who actively participate in, lobby for, or defend the violent act of abortion, the ending of innocent human life in the womb. “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34).
We need to pray for all those who have firebombed, smashed windows and doors, sprayed graffiti paint, and otherwise caused damage to pregnancy resource centers that serve as beacons of light and hope to women in their communities facing unplanned pregnancies. “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21).
We need to pray for abortion supporters’ eyes to be opened and their hearts to be convicted of the truth so they will repent of affirming this evil and be saved. “As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live” (Ezekiel 33:11).
As discouraging and heartbreaking as it was to see my local pregnancy center vandalized, it only motivated me more in my resolve to fight for what’s right—saving unborn lives at risk of being aborted by encouraging and empowering their mothers to make life-affirming choices for their pregnancies.
Lately, I began to see a passage from Scripture about love in a new light. I want to leave this as encouragement to all of us who dedicate our lives to helping others choose life: “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres" (1 Corinthians 13:6-7).
No matter what the road ahead looks like, may we in the pregnancy help movement continue to resolve to protect mothers and their children from abortion and love them the way Jesus does.
