There are many amazing stories of the lifesaving work of pregnancy help centers, though not all of them make it into a book.
The story of how one mom and her son were given life in abundance through pregnancy help has taken book form.
In this House We Lived: A Faith Journey of Choosing Life Again and Again is set to be released in May by Anointed Colony Media.
The author is Faith-Ann Dalton who has a home and family in St. James, Mo., where she and her husband Gabe enjoy the challenges and blessings of raising four children. Pregnancy Help News spoke with Dalton about the pending release of the book.

Her story of begins with PRC (Pregnancy Resource Center) of Rolla taking center stage.

In 2016 she became a client of PRC of Rolla after having had a positive pregnancy test. Seeing the center’s sign brought the then 21-year-old into PRC of Rolla to see if they could help.
At the first visit she was told, “Anything you need, we can help you get it.” Given she was engaged at the time, she felt joy in that moment and yet would return for a second visit feeling afraid, alone, and hopeless.
What changed? It was the reaction of her fiancé and others.
“For the next week as I told the people I trusted about my pregnancy, I was devastated by their responses,” Dalton said.
She was told she was too young to have a baby; it would ruin her life because she would have to drop out of college and that it was a mistake. But the reaction of the baby’s father was the most gut-wrenching.
“Having a baby at this time would be irresponsible,” he said. “Get the abortion, and we’ll try again after we are married.”
Dalton was traumatized and felt betrayed enough to believe the lie that she was bound to fail. Dalton’s fiancé had sent her the link to the PRC of Rolla website believing she could walk in and get an abortion right away. She informed him she had already been there once.
She returned to PRC of Rolla with a crushed countenance, to hear again from the center that they would help and support her.
“They spoke truth to my situation,” Dalton said. “They told me I was not alone, that whatever I needed they would help me get. And that’s exactly what they did.”
Dalton had entered PRC of Rolla and revealed the pressure she was under: “My fiancé told me to come here for an abortion. You don’t do those here, do you?”
When asked about this moment of misunderstanding, Dalton expressed gratitude for the compassion demonstrated by the PRC of Rolla staff.
“Being asked to take a seat in the waiting area when I asked about abortion in the PRC did not feel manipulative to me,” Dalton said. “It felt like a pause. I was in a vulnerable place, and instead of being rushed into a decision, I was given space to sit, breathe and think. That moment mattered for me.”
Dalton’s book tells the full story of how God met her in her crisis, the power of life-affirming pregnancy help, and the hope that came from choosing life. It is about refusing to give up.

Dalton wrote this very personal, raw account to draw readers into the deep need of women in crisis pregnancy. It is her way of helping the next mother just as others helped her and encourage those who support those mothers through the ministry of pregnancy help.
Early on PRC of Rolla staff shared the resources available to Dalton, including housing. At the time she thought, ‘I’m not homeless,’ yet within two months her situation would drastically change and Jane Dalton, the program manager of the PRC of Rolla maternity home, informed her about would be an essential element in meeting her needs.
In all Faith-Ann Dalton would spend 33 months in the maternity housing and during that time built a deep, trusting relationship with Jane and Joe Dalton and their family.
The Daltons became godparents to Faith’s son, Noah, and she frequently went to dinners with their family and joined in their family Christmas celebrations with Joe, Jane, and their eight children.
Dalton gave her testimony at the 2025 Biking for Babies banquet where she commended them for supporting the work of PRC of Rolla since 2016 the same year she first went there.
“Within a year I was a nursing mother, college graduate, employed in my field of study, with a 401k, a business owner and most importantly I became a baptized Christian,” she told those in attendance.
The next year she became debt free, bought a car with cash and was invited to give her testimony in Washington D.C. at Babies Go to Congress to testify before lawmakers.
By 2020 Faith moved into her own home with two-year-old Noah without the aid of HUD or any other government assistance.
By this time one of the Dalton sons had captured Faith’s heart. She and Gabe Dalton would date for six months before Gabe would ask Noah’s permission for his mother’s hand in marriage.
In June of 2020 they wed and began building their family together into the kind of home God had planned for her all along.
It is the reason for her book title, In This House We Lived as Dalton described, “This is the story of the houses we lived in and the life I built when I chose a different kind of home.”
When Noah was four, the Daltons established a parenting plan together with Noah’s biological father. This is just one more redemptive element of the story.

Today as a mother of four, Dalton is also a cosmetologist and an instructor at a cosmetology college. She has served in various roles in pregnancy help through PRC of Rolla as she remains passionate about helping others.
Proceeds from Dalton’s book support Bridges Maternity Home to continue the ongoing work which enabled her to build an independent life with her son.
Bridges is a transformational home providing a safe environment for pregnant and newly parenting single mothers.
Dalton wrote this book and continues to give her testimony whenever asked in gratitude for people who support pregnancy centers. She wants them to hear about the good that’s being done and how lives are being saved.
In This House We Lived: A Faith Journey of Choosing Life Again and Again is an up close and personal view of how challenges are overcome through the ministry of pregnancy help.
