It’s no secret that Hollywood is in bed with the abortion industry. Anyone paying even an ounce of attention can see that more and more plotlines are produced that attempt to normalize the intentional killing of innocent unborn children.
One of the “entertainment” industry’s latest efforts was supposed to have a successful run on the silver screen across the U.S., but viewers were not drawn to a product with the (thinly veiled) abortion agenda as its message.
The film Call Jane, released this past October, was designed to frame abortion in the warm glow of righteousness and compassion. It even had the star power of Elizabeth Banks and Sigourney Weaver.
But no one showed up. The film bombed, according to Breitbart News,
“The pro-abortion movie Call Jane, starring Elizabeth Banks and Sigourney Weaver, is turning out to be a box-office flop,” Breitbart’s report said, “mustering just $240,755 in 1,070 theaters in its first weekend for a pitiful per-screen average of $225.”
Ouch.
What is Call Jane about?
Call Jane is a period piece set in 1968 Chicago.
Elizabeth Banks stars as Joy Griffin, a woman whose pregnancy has complications that could threaten her life. Unable to procure an abortion through mainstream medical care, she ends up connecting with the group known as “Jane’s Collective” or simply “Jane.”
This is based on real history.
Jane’s Collective was an actual group in the late 1960s and early 1970s that helped women receive illegal abortions. Several women in the group were arrested but eventually released when Roe v. Wade changed the legal landscape of abortion. Afterward, the group disbanded.
As the movie progresses, Joy becomes a member of the Collective and works to assist other women and girls who are desperate to end their pregnancies for a variety of reasons. The Collective ends up facing off against law enforcement but they stand their own ground to, uhhh, “protect” these vulnerable women.
There is so much wrong here. Where to start?

Why Call Jane is filled with lies
First, the movie goes into overdrive pushing the belief that abortion is sometimes medically necessary. Fact check: It’s not.
Conditions like extremely high blood pressure, decompensating heart disease, life-threatening diabetes, cancer, or other serious medical conditions can be extremely dangerous to pregnant women.
But they do not require abortion; instead, they may require pre-term delivery.
This is where these babies are delivered before the time in pregnancy when they can be expected to survive on their own outside their mother’s womb — which is between 22 and 24 weeks after conception.
Here’s the key: With pre-term delivery, doctors are not intentionally ending the life of the child.
The baby is simply delivered, and everything possible is done to preserve his or her life. No one is crushing the child’s skull or ripping off his or her limbs. And if the child passes away, it is treated as a genuine loss.
It’s like losing any other patient in the hospital. It’s tragic and doctors work to avoid it.
In other words, there is a tremendous chasm between abortion and pre-term delivery. But those behind the film Call Jane want to sidestep that inconvenient fact in favor of their preferred narrative.
Next, the movie tries to make abortion look like a preferable, even noble choice. And that is what Hollywood, the mainstream media, and many liberal politicians want you to believe.
Even the film’s trailer splashes quotes across the screen, including “Triumphantly celebrates the power of women.”
The film endeavors to mask yet another truth: Abortion has horrible aftereffects on women.
One recent study published in October 2022 — the same time as Call Jane was released in theaters — revealed that women who terminate their pregnancies often suffer from mental health issues, ranging from self-loathing to clinical depression.
The danger of films like Call Jane
It is important to realize that when it comes to Hollywood and abortion, it’s all propaganda.
People who push abortion don’t care about you. They have no qualms about placing women in danger, targeting children, and putting profit above patients.

Look at Jane’s Collective, featured in Call Jane. Did you know that it inspired the group known as “Jane’s Revenge,” the radical group claiming responsibility for some of the many attacks on pregnancy help centers over the last several months?
Like the Collective, it’s made up of people zealous about so-called “abortion rights” who are willing to flout the law.
But this time it goes further; “Jane’s Revenge” is a domestic terrorist group that has physically attacked pregnancy centers.
All of this abortion-supporting messaging has brought with it an alarming trend of support for allowing unwanted infants to die alone after failed abortions, abandoned by doctors.
Slowly but surely, the messaging behind productions like Call Jane works to have darkness seep into people. It’s horrifying to watch.
Why was Call Jane such an epic fail?
You cannot blame a lack of marketing for the film tanking at the box office. It received a lot of coverage, including profiles in the New York Times and Vanity Fair.
Overall, members of the media tripped over themselves to gush over it.
Have you heard of The Banshees of Inisherin? Quite possibly not. That film also opened in October 2022 — on only 58 screens. But guess what? It made more than double of what Call Jane earned, which opened on more than 1,000 screens.
Let’s look at another abortion-centered film, but on the pro-life side: Unplanned, which was released in 2019.
Its opening weekend, showing on 1,059 theaters, Unplanned pulled in $6,382,298. And it made that much with the abortion lobby and compliant media hostile to the film.
I’m no mathematician, but I think $6.3 million is a lot more than $240,755.
Perhaps the failure of Call Jane shows that while a portion of humanity has been pulled into the abyss of dehumanizing these children and ignoring the horrific aftereffects on women, not everyone has … and maybe there is still hope for humanity.
Maybe, just maybe, the general public isn’t as abortion hungry as Planned Parenthood and Hollywood are, nor are people as ready to end unborn lives as the abortion lobby would like you to believe.
Abortion is not meant to be celebrated. And hardly any moviegoers watched Call Jane, so that’s not much of a celebration.
The movie’s tagline is “You Are Not Alone.”
And in a bit of poetic justice, it appears that alone is just how the film remained while in theaters.
